Celiac Disease and Gluten Free Food
We are a non-profit organization founded in July of 2021 aimed at supporting marginalized communities for those with celiac disease. We are a celiac-led organization and understand the difficulties of managing a gluten free diet with no cross-contact.
Donation and Community
I learned in my own healing journey just how difficult it is to adapt, having to check anything that is applied onto the face or consumed, while also having to take in economic differences. Gluten free food is 242% more expensive than regular gluten containing food, not including the differences between other gluten free products such as makeup or skincare. Celiac disease is not a choice, and there is no cure. Maintaining a strict gluten free diet is the only option, and financial circumstances should not have to impact that. Celiac Surrounding works through donating gluten free food and products, as well as donating other items, such as toasters and toothbrushes, that have to be replaced when someone becomes gluten free. I personally have a selective palate, so I understand the struggles of trying to find safe food that I like that is safe. I love to try to help others with celiac disease as much as I can because it is not an easy diagnosis, and it is still something I have to manage everyday. Our future goal is to extend to more donation locations and continue to increase awareness.
